Crufts Championship Show 2019 Critique

My thanks to Crufts committee for the invitation to judge, my two very efficient stewards and the exhibitors for their very good entry.
VETERAN DOG (2)

  1.  Baumann's Ch Regalflight Tarloch.  1st dog of the day and none of the following 89 came close to matching him for type. Nothing exaggerated just well made in every respect. Nine plus years and moving like a two year old. Beautifully presented and handled BEST VET CC AND BOB.
  2. Gerkman-Hiltunen's Multi Ch Chic Choix Dhulert Arathorn. 8 years dark harsh coat, good head and expression, deep chest, good bend of stifle and moved soundly. Unfortunate to come up against No 1 today.

PUPPY DOG (1)

  1.  Peach's Kilbourne Merak. Stood alone but worthy of his place. Well grown 8 month old. Good overall shape, harsh coat, deep chest and strong quarters. Sound Mover BEST PUPPY

JUNIOR DOG (5)

  1.  Taylor's Ormanstar Gabriel Norman. Very shapely, dark harsh coat, good bone, dark eye, good reach of neck, strong hind quarters. Strode out well.
  2.  Grimshaw's Greyflax Diamond Jo at Jamalison. Tall well built, typical head and expression, good construction front and rear. Sound mover, if a bit close behind.
  3.  Antunes' Antonius Vertragus Narcisse et Cupidon,

POST GRADUATE DOG (16) (2ABS) VERY STRONG CLASS

  1. Carlin's Kaleginy Fusalier at Thornmoor. Good overall shape, sound front and rear, nice head with dark eye and small ears. Tight feet, moved freely with drive.
  2. Stuart & Holt's Ollandheart Abraham Similar comments apply as to 1st.  Likely to change places on another day.
  3. Swansons Cotherstone Dallas Dhu at Altimarlach

LIMIT DOG (8) (1ABS)

  1. Griling's Pyefleet Tarka. Typical of this kennel, strong neck, deep body and powerful quarters, correct bone. Good bend of stifle with second thigh. Well muscled all around. Looks like he could do the job he was bred for, sound free movement.
  2. Nordhammer's Greyfriar Ayrton. Tall dog with typical head, nice dark eye and correct ears. Deep chest with a well sprung rib, tight feet, moved freely and kept his topline on the move.
  3. Kack's Greyorys Irresistible.

OPEN DOG (8)

  1. Peach's Ch Kilbourne Lloyd. Good head and expression, small ears. standing over a lot of ground with correct topline. Well muscled, tight feet, free movement A worthy champion RES CC
  2. Baumann & Lucas's Packway Loxley Norton. Taller dog but similar comments apply.  Bigger ears than I like but not heavy. Moved soundly but not the drive of 1.
  3. Morton, Morgan and Constantine's Ch Kaleginy The Forester

VETERAN BITCH (6)

  1. Helps Beardswood Quintessence. Good overall shape with typical head and expression. Strong neck, deep chest.Sound front and rear with good bend of stifle.Strode out well.
  2. Constantines Ch Gentiehun Adelaide of Kaleginy. Not so tall as one but well balanced. Good head with dark eye and small ears. Deep body with tuck up and strong quarters. Sound on the move. Close decision.
  3. Samways Cassacre Aelgyth

PUPPY BITCH (4)

  1. Swanson's Altimarlach Archangel. Very shapely 8 month old. Dark harsh coat and dark eye. Typical head and expression. Good front and rear. Solid free mover. Promising youngster.
  2. Canon & Peach's Kilbourne Etoile. Similar comments apply. Not quite so settled on the move.
  3. 3rd Peach's Kilbourne Lili Borea

JUNIOR BITCH (5)

  1. Grimshaw's Greyflax Ruby at Jamalison. Lovely dark bitch with typical head, good topline kept on the move. Deep chest, tuck up and correct bend of stifle. Harsh coat. Sound front and rear.
  2. Gillie's Dorrator Eno. Smaller but well balanced. Good front and rear. Good bone and well muscled. Nice dark eye. Sound in the move.
  3. Bailey's Greyflax Pearl's a Singer.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (21) (1AB) STRONGEST CLASS OF THE DAY WITH MANY GOOD BITCHES GOING CARDLESS.

  1. Bailey's Greyflax Ruby Tuesday. Very shapely, deep chest, strong quarters with good tuck up and bend of stifle.
  2. Helps Beardswood Ulyssa. Tall dark bitch, very shapely, typical head, strong neck, correct topline and powerful hindquarters. Sound free movement, a close decision.
  3. Abbott & Constantine's Kaleginy Magnolia Steel

LIMIT BITCH (10) M(1A)

  1. Abbott's Kaleginy Calypso at Wildshore. Good type with pleasing head and expression. Nice dark eye. strong sound body. Correct front and rear resulting in sound free movement. CC
  2. Peach's Kilbourne Liberty. Smaller but well balanced, good bone, well constructed front and rear. Dark harsh coat, sound movment but not quite the drive of 1.
  3. Lewis's Neroche Juniper at Luckhurst.

OPEN BITCH (12) (2AB)

  1. Morton, Morton and Constantine's Ch Cotherstone Islay Mist at Kaleginy  Very dark harsh coat, typical head. Deep brisket, well sprung ribs and powerful quarters. tight feet. Moved well with drive. Push hard in the challenge RES CC
  2. Van Zanten - Boomgaard & Hansen De Ch Pyefleet Vision. Lighter in colour but in other respects similar to 1. Close , but not just the same drive on the move.
  3. Gillie's Dorrator Garvey.

GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME (1)

  1. Seymour-Jackson's Cassacre Aelfreda at Ghiltan. Showing her age on the move but a typical deerhound nnature and enjoying her day.
